An experienced Facility Director is needed to lead day-to-day operations at a private boarding school campus in Chatham, Virginia. This is a fully on-site position overseeing maintenance, housekeeping, and landscaping services.
You'll combine hands-on mechanical expertise with team leadership, taking responsibility for campus operations, contractors, capital projects, and technical troubleshooting across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
The Role
As the Facility Director, you'll:
- Lead maintenance, housekeeping, and landscaping teams across the campus.
- Oversee daily facilities operations, work orders, and maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems as the primary technical resource.
- Manage contractors and ensure work meets safety and quality standards.
- Oversee capital projects and support long-term campus maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate seasonal operations and facilities preparations for special campus events.
- Provide emergency on-call support and coverage for selected weekend events.
To be successful as the Facility Director, you'll have:
- Strong hands-on mechanical experience across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary facilities or maintenance teams.
- Experience managing employee performance, accountability, and day-to-day workloads.
- Strong contractor management, project coordination, and maintenance planning experience.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with senior stakeholders.
- A valid driver's license and flexibility for occasional callouts and weekends.
- Campus or education facilities experience would be advantageous.
- $85,000-$90,000 base salary.
