An experienced Building Engineer is needed to maintain and repair critical building systems at a facility in Richmond, Virginia. You'll provide preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, life safety, and control systems.
This permanent role suits a hands-on engineer with broad building maintenance experience who can work safely and independently while supporting reliable, efficient facility operations.
The Role
As the Building Engineer, you'll:
- Maintain and repair mechanical, plumbing, structural, HVAC, life safety, and control systems.
- Complete preventive maintenance and emergency repairs across building equipment and systems.
- Inspect fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing systems to confirm effective operation.
- Maintain energy management programs and support efficient building system performance.
- Ensure work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Follow procedures for the safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to complex maintenance problems.
- Share technical knowledge and support colleagues across the engineering team.
To be successful as the Building Engineer, you'll have:
- A high school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4–5 years' relevant experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.
- Broad practical knowledge of commercial building systems and maintenance.
- Any certifications or licenses required by applicable state or local jurisdictions.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related applications.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and lift or carry 50 pounds or more.
- Universal CFC certification and previous supervisory experience would be advantageous.
- $56,160–$62,400 annual salary.
