Lighting/Shading Systems Engineer

A Lighting/Shading Systems Engineer is required to manage engineering design reviews and system integration across a portfolio of commercial projects in Chicago. You'll focus on integrated lighting and automated shading systems, ensuring they connect effectively with the wider building automation infrastructure.

This role combines design review, field inspections, project coordination and commissioning, with a strong technical focus on Acuity nLight, ECLYPSE controllers, BACnet/IP and automated shading systems.

The Role
 
As the Lighting/Shading Systems Engineer, you'll:
  • Review electrical and lighting control designs against technical standards and project requirements.
  • Review integrated sequences covering nLight ECLYPSE logic, sensors and shading controls.
  • Conduct field inspections to verify sensor placement, controller accessibility and system readiness.
  • Oversee nLight gateways, ECLYPSE controllers and shading motor interface installations.
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans for dimming, glare control and override logic.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues and validate BACnet point mapping during commissioning.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors and vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Report on system readiness, integration milestones and opportunities for process improvement.
About You
 
To be successful as the Lighting/Shading Systems Engineer, you'll have:
  • 2–5 years' experience with facilities lighting and shading control systems.
  • Strong expertise in Acuity nLight, ECLYPSE controllers and BACnet/IP integration.
  • Knowledge of control theory, daylight harvesting and building automation protocols.
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • An associate degree with additional relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and system commissioning capabilities.
  • Commercial lighting project management or technical design review experience would be advantageous.
  • ALC integration and BACnet point naming experience would also be beneficial.
