A leading organisation in the property and infrastructure management sector is looking for an experienced
Assistant Chief Engineer to join its team in
New York. Reporting to the Chief Engineer or senior leadership, you’ll help manage the daily functions of the maintenance department, playing a crucial role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality building operations.
As the
Assistant Chief Engineer, you’ll:
- Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of all maintenance activities, repairs, and plant operations.
- Oversee the upkeep and renovation of critical infrastructure systems across the facility.
- Monitor the quality, timing, and compliance of maintenance work, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
- Review and improve operational procedures to optimise departmental efficiency.
- Maintain up-to-date records in line with JC, CMS, DNV, DOH, and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage materials inventory and ensure timely requisitioning of necessary supplies.
- Serve as an active member of the facility’s fire response and safety teams.
To be successful in the role of
Assistant Chief Engineer, you’ll bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in facilities management, ideally in a large, complex organisation.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and supervisory skills—especially under pressure.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities (written and verbal).
- Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a high-demand, fast-paced setting.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to train, mentor, and lead others effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and internet-based systems.
Preferred Certifications & Licences:
- NYC Department of Buildings Stationary Engineer License
- NYC Fire Department Refrigeration Engineer License
- Certificate of Fitness: A-35, G-46, G-71, G-79, and P-98 (or the ability to obtain within 30 days if required)
