Facilities Management Director

A top-tier hospital in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking an experienced Facilities Management Director to oversee Plant Operations and Maintenance across its campus. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll manage teams, drive compliance, and play a critical part in patient safety and operational excellence.

The Role
 
As the Facilities Management Director, you’ll:
  • Oversee all functions within Plant Operations & Maintenance to meet strategic and operational goals.
  • Lead regulatory compliance with agencies such as TJC, CMS, EPA, OSHA, and ADA.
  • Build strong client relationships and ensure alignment with hospital standards and priorities.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, including energy efficiency programs.
  • Coordinate capital projects, facility development, and serve as liaison to architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Guide and develop team members, ensuring performance aligns with goals and safety standards.
Your Experience
 
To succeed in the role of Facilities Management Director, you’ll bring:
  • At least 5 years of director-level experience in healthcare facilities, including engineering and construction.
  • A strong understanding of healthcare facility systems - electrical, structural and mechanical.
  • Proven leadership in acute care hospital environments.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as NFPA, CMS, TJC and OSHA.
  • CHFM certification preferred; a Bachelor’s degree is also desirable.
