This is a hands-on leadership opportunity overseeing the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and presentation of a large university campus, ensuring a safe, compliant, and exceptional environment for students, staff, and visitors.
The Role
As the
Director of Facilities, you'll:
- Lead the day-to-day management of campus facilities, maintenance, custodial, and grounds operations.
- Manage, coach, and develop facilities personnel, supervisors, and operational teams.
- Ensure all buildings, infrastructure, and building systems are maintained to a high standard.
- Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance programs across the campus.
- Coordinate event setups and operational support for campus activities.
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain quality, safety, and compliance standards.
- Manage budgets, purchasing, inventory, and supplier relationships.
- Prepare operational and maintenance reports for senior leadership.
- Build strong relationships with university stakeholders, contractors, and service partners.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and service delivery.
You
To be successful in the role of
Director of Facilities, you'll bring:
- 3-5+ years' experience within Facilities Management, ideally in higher education, K-12, healthcare, or other large institutional environments.
- Proven experience leading facilities, maintenance, custodial, or building operations teams.
- Strong leadership, people management, and team development skills.
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and operational budgets.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, although equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
