CSR

we take our responsibility to our people, our community and our planet seriously

So for us, having a CSR plan that reflects that is really important. Here are a few of the things we do to make sure we’re giving back to the people and communities that have nurtured and supported us.

YMCA England & Wales is the largest provider of safe, supported accommodation for young people in England and Wales, providing a home to more than 20,000 people experiencing homelessness each year.

This year our official charity partner is YMCA Heart of England.

Every year more than 100,000 young people aged 16-24 ask for help with homelessness. Some of these young people find themselves sleeping rough, some crashing on friends’ sofas, others just desperate to escape dangerous home environments.

Despite this, only 36% receive housing support from local councils and there continues to be very limited social security support for under-25s.

Our  CSR commitments run across three areas, which we regularly review and update to make sure we’re doing the right thing for our community and our planet.

charity sponsorship

Alongside our sponsorship of YMCA Heart of England, we also make an annual donation to SIFA Fireside and fundraise for Movember and Cancer Awareness charities.

local community support

We support a local under 6s football team, participate in community litter picking, and often send pizza to our local hard-working NHS teams.

environmental responsibility

We run a full recycling scheme throughout our offices, and have installed water volumisers to reduce water wastage on site.

CSR 1

We’ve signed the mental health in recruitment pledge, and take an active role in making sure our employees’ mental health is prioritised and looked after.

That’s why we give all our employees £1000 a year to spend on their wellbeing.

We also have 4 trained mental health first aiders on the team, and invite professional counsellor and life coach, Emma Dredge, on-site to have one to ones with our team several times throughout the year.
